Security for Success Training Program
30 hrs Workforce Literacy + 12 hrs Customer Service Training.
Brighter Future, Inc created a self-employment opportunity for TANF recipients and other low-income individuals, through a set of activities designed to lead them to economic self-sufficiency. The objectives include increasing program participants’ literacy and skill levels, providing them with customer service skills and assisting them to secure long-term employment. To graduate... all participants must complete the 30 hours Workforce Literacy and 12 hours of Customer Service training...

Eligibility Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be unemployed or receiving assistance or meet the low income guidelines.
- Demonstrate a desire to learn.
- Demonstrate behavior appropriate to learning.
- Have a HS Diploma or G.E.D., clean criminal background and drug-free. Reasons for Exclusion Include:
- Insensitivity or disrespect toward others,
- Use of offensive language,
- Harassment (any behavior perceived as offensive after being asked to stop),
- Disruptively loud behavior,
- Possession of a weapon or threatening behavior,
- disregard for personal hygiene,
- Criminal background,
- Being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
- Be willing to commit to at least twelve (12) to twenty (20) hours of instruction per week, make and keep appointments, arrive at tutoring sessions on time, notify the tutor in advance (at least one (1) hour) of planned absence or expectations of being late or leave a message with the office.
- Agree to meet at the Brighter Future office or authorized tutoring site. Home tutoring is not permitted. Be able to and agree to get to the designated tutoring site without assistance from the program or tutor.
- Show progress in meeting stated goals and/or show measurable progress as compared to initial Reading, Math and Computer inventory. "Measurable Progress" is defined by W R A T (Wide Range Achievement Test) after completion of 30 hours of instructions.
- Attend all 12 hours of "Security for Success Training" before being eligible for job placement.
- Agree to stay in my position for at least 90 days.

ESL CLASSES:
120 hrs.This class is designed to assist the customers to communicate effectively in the English language to survive in the United States. The program will be offered in a structured classroom setting.

120 hrs. EachThis class is to prepare students for the GED classes. ABE 1 is for students testing below the 4th grade level o the WRAT. ABE 2 is designed for the students testing above the 4th grade level but below the 8th grade level on the WRAT. Both classes will be individualized and offered in a structured classroom setting.

120 hrs.This class is designed for the student testing above the 8th grade level on the WRAT. The course is computer based so that the learning process is sometimes shorter than the 120 hours needed to prepare for the GED examination. This is an individualized structured classroom setting.
back to topANGER MANAGEMENT AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION CLASSES:
40 hrs.This class is designed to give students tips on how to keep cool in an Angry World. How to look and feel relaxed, keep their voice calm, be direct and specific about what is bothering them, how to Ask-don´t Demand, How to make their statement once-then give it a rest and most importantly How to redirect anger by turning negative energy into something positive. We encourage every School Administration to start a Peer Mediation program in their School and require all students to participate.
back to topPEER MEDIATION CLASSES:
180 daysThey develop leadership, enhance their language skills, improve their academic achievement, increase their self esteem, a positive status among their peers is increased. They learn communication skills which are valuable in all relationships, learn a problem solving techniques that can be applied to many situations and they have a strong positive influence on other students. The problem solving process carries over to families. Parents and students have reported that conflicts at home are being resolved more effectively.
back to topFINANCIAL LITERACY CLASSES: (PERSONAL FINANCE)
40 hrs.This class assumes that students have no prior knowledge about accounting or finance, and delivers lessons and examples to build accounting skills. Specifically, this class addresses accounting terminology, revenue, expenses, net income, the accounting equation, debits, credits, and balancing the accounting formula, the accounting structure, the accounting cycle, journals, ledgers, the trial balance and more. It also guides students to learn how to read financial statements properly, and how to grab meaningful information from the balance sheet, income statements and cash flow statements.
After completing this class, they will have a solid understanding of accounting in today´s world. By applying the concepts learned in this class, the students will understand the processes behind Accounts Payable and Account Receivable; how and why financial transactions are documented; what cash flow is and how to improve it, they will know what profit is, how it´s interpreted, and what influences its growth.
back to topBASIC COMPUTER CLASS:
96 hrs.This training consists of six (6) weeks of basic training on the computer. Students will cover the hands on basics of: Windows 98, Microsoft Office, Word 2000, Excel 2000, Access 2000, Power Point 2000, Outlook 2000, and Basic Internet Concepts. We have a small classroom setting so that you don´t get lost in the crowd.
